Chris Royer has been actively involved in design and construction of buildings and landscapes for over thirty years.
He earned his Master of Architecture degree at the University of California-Berkeley, where he studied with Christopher Alexander, the author of A Pattern Language and the Nature of Order. Chris concentrated in ecological design, making him a green architect long before green design and sustainable building were buzz words.

After a period of working on large scale institutional and commercial projects with Sasaki Associates, Inc. and Arrowstreet, Inc., he narrowed his focus to what he loves most: residential design.
For much of the 1990's, Chris was Senior Associate at Kenyon C. Bolton III & Associates, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As the firm's chief Project Architect, he was responsible for high-end residential projects across the country. In 1998, Chris started Royer Architects with the mission of providing personalized house design services of the highest quality.
Chris’s passion for gardens and nature led to a Certificate in Landscape Design from the Boston Architectural College. His primary areas of inquiry were sustainable landscape design, site planning, and edible landscaping. He now offers his clients an integrated approach to architectural and landscape design in Boston and the Berkshires. |
